Glow tells the fictional story of Ruth Wilder (Brie), an out-of-work, struggling actress in 1980s Los Angeles who finds one last chance for stardom when she’s thrust into the glitter and spandex world of women’s wrestling.
Based on the award-winning novel by Neil Gaiman, the series stars Ricky Whittle (The 100, Austenland) as protagonist ex-con Shadow Moon, Ian McShane (Deadwood, Pirates of the Caribbean) as Mr. Wednesday who enlists Shadow Moon as part of his cross-country mission, and Emily Browning (Sucker Punch, Legend) as Shadow’s wife, Laura Moon.
The eight-episode Carnival Row is a fantasy-noir set in a neo-Victorian city. Mythical creatures fleeing their war-torn homeland have gathered in the city, and tensions are simmering between citizens and the growing immigrant population.
The series is described as “a female-driven” thriller that follows a therapist who begins to develop intimate and illicit relationships with the people in her patients’ lives. As she transgresses professional lines, she begins to jeopardize the very fabric of her personal life.
Inspired by the New York Times best-selling book #Girlboss by Sophia Amoruso, founder of the fashion brand Nasty Gal, Girlboss is new 13-part comedy series coming to Netflix this Friday.
